Africa Day

We stand today on the stage of world affairs, before the audience of world opinion. We have come together to assert our role in the direction of world affairs and to discharge our duty to the great continent whose two hundred fifty million people we lead. Africa is today at mid- course, in transition from the Africa of yesterday to the Africa of tomorrow. Even as we stand here we move from the past into the future. The task on which we have embarked, the making of Africa, will not wait. We must act, to shape and mould the future and leave our imprint on events as they pass into history.

Hey Bunmi

Thanks. iDig your blog too, its so informative.

Is that not Kaunda in 2nd row, 2nd from the right?

iThink all of them would be deeply disappointed to see African unity is more a feeling among Africans than political reality. iWonder how many would be surprised to see the inherited legacies of neocolonialism and one-partyism everstrong and continuing in the wrong fashion.

Yo Sis,

It looks like Kaunda to me too.

I don't think Kenyatta would be surprised at all, blud. Man was architect of authoritarianism in Kenya. I reckon he was responsible for the assassination of Tom Mboya. And he banned opposition parties so what sort of Pan-Africanism is dat? Nah, he may have done alot of good for Kenya, but that don't wipe out his bad.
